He wanted to address two problems facing conveyancers:
- Commitments outside of work which disrupt the steady flow of billable hours and block career progress, and
- The immense amount of form-filling which is still done by hand.
His solution was to implement an all-electronic, web-based conveyancing service which streamlines the process while allowing legal practitioners to work remotely, at hours that suit them. A sophisticated business process with no paper (all documents are scanned) has resulted in Convex Conveyancing.
It is a package which allows clients to log on at any time to see not only the progress of their transfer but also the correspondence. Financing and developing the software took over a year and, after initial scepticism from mortgage originators and estate agents, clients have started to use the system and turnover has tripled.
