Martin Langan is concerned that many legal firms have invested heavily in IT but have carried on practicing law as if nothing has changed, with no commensurate removal of duplication of effort and expense. They have bought the IT shirt so to speak but are wearing a tie with it.
This series of articles will therefore consist of specific steps which solicitors can take to mine the remarkable technological resources they have to deliver tangible benefits. Over the next few months he will be looking at the following aspects of IT:
- An introduction to case management;
- Communication methods;
- Using technology to delegate work to the most appropriate level;
- How IT systems can be used to ensure compliance with quality standards;
- How web tracking can be made available to clients and referrers.
