El Dorado loses its allure

A multi-million cluster complex in the upmarket northern suburb of Weltevreden Park lies in ruins and abandoned by its residents after it started collapsing. El Dorado was so badly built that besides walls collapsing, adjoining units started separating from each other. And now vagrants have started to trash its fittings.

No one wants to demolish the buildings, especially the owners who have already lost their investments. As property values in the immediate area drop, questions are being asked, the most pertinent ones being how the complex came to be built on a landfill site, and how clearance certificates could have been issued by engineers at every stage of the construction process.
