Bill Rawson, The Institute of Estate Agents of SA president, has lashed out at the "inconsistent treatment" it has received from the competition authorities compared with the SA Property Owners' Association (Sapoa).

Sapoa still appeared to be publishing estate agents' commission guidelines in the form of research surveys, yet the Institute recently paid an administrative penalty of R522 400 for indirectly fixing the fees of estate agents at 7.5 percent. The inconsistent treatment of the two organisations by the competition authorities had still not been resolved to the Institute's satisfaction, he said this week.
