Minister commits

Minister of Housing Lindiwe Sisulu has committed the conveyancing work of the Department of Housing to accredited Black Conveyancers Association (BCA) conveyancers at the first BCA AGM held in Durban. She invited the BCA, in partnership with the Housing department to:

  • develop a community outreach programme aimed at educating community members about property ownership and financial responsibility, and
  • begin to impact on the process of asset creation for the poorest communities through formalising their property rights in houses and land.

The AGM delegates also resolved to challenge the pattern of discriminatory allocation of conveyancing instructions by financial and property institutions through the Promotion of Equality and Unfair Discrimination Act 4 of 2000 and competition legislation.
