The planned strike at deeds offices countrywide, which could have cost the property industry hundreds of millions of rands in lost profits, has been averted after the land affairs department offered the Public Servants' Association (PSA) a "very good" alternative that the union will take to its members. The department applied for an interdict in the Pretoria High Court in a bid to prevent the strike. However, the matter was halted when the department tabled an offer at the last minute that the union felt was "reasonable" and which will be taken back to the PSA's members for discussion.
