Sectional Titles

Paddocks Press - July 2015

Paddocks Press is a monthly free digital newsletter published to educate and update the sectional title community. This months issue (Volume 10, Issue 7) sees a new and improved Paddocks Press and the introduction of a video each month from one of their knowledgable team members on an interesting case study. This month, Nicole explains what happened with the Laguna Ridge Scheme v Dorse court case covering the trustees refusal to keep pets. Other articles of interest, include:

Tree problems in sectional title schemes - Anton Kelly
Residents in community schemes have many of the same property related problems as residents in traditional suburban homes, but they can be exacerbated by neighbours’ closer physical proximity. Noise, tobacco smoke and cooking odours are some that spring to mind.

You are invited to a (gas) braai at my unit - Zerlinda van der Merwe
Although the relevant Regulation has been around for a while, we still receive queries from owners, trustees, managing agents and estate agents as to what is required when an owner of a sectional title unit wants to install a gas stove or gas braai within their section (or on the common property).

Carryn's Corner - Carryn Melissa Durham
In my previous Carryn’s Corner contribution I discussed some important aspects on the annual general meeting (“the AGM”). This included the quorum requirements and the chairperson, where I covered Prescribed Management Rules 57 – 59. In this third and final AGM contribution, I will deal with voting at the AGM.
