The Conveyancing Hub

Four legal firms and one estate agency have over the last five months - as "The Conveyancing Hub" - been piloting an e-conveyancing scheme in which some 150 deals have already been concluded online entirely. Central to the success has been the introduction of a standard missive (contract), to replace excessively expensive conventional ones.

It is predicted that by next spring over 1000 transactions will take place electronically every month, resulting in considerable savings in both the time they take and the costs. Although theoretically possible, 15 minutes is still a long way from the impressive 24 hours achieved recently for the exchange of missives.

The Conveyancing Hub uses an "End to End Conveyancing™" mechanism which was developed by TransacTDirect . Features include:

* SMS text, email, postal and online case update options;
* Automated fee quotations; and an
* Online instruction facility direct to one's conveyancer through direct dial numbers, email and an Internet instruction facility.
