View legislation stymied

The neighbours are to be consulted by letters registered with the municipality, however, Ray Ramlall, an architect with 32 years of experience, complained that the June 1 notice regarding the regulation was illegal because it was published without the public being informed first.

Ramlall called a meeting of Durban architects and the municipality last week where the issue was discussed and the municipality accepted that the notice was illegal. The regulation aims to prevent neighbours from squabbling months after the approval of building plans. It follows on the Supreme Court of Appeals' view ruling earlier this year.
