Two amendments to the rules of the Northern Provinces' and Kwazulu-Natal Law Societies regarding the form of the report of an independent accountant were recently published on the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants' (SAICA) website.
Amendments to Rules of the Law Society in the Northern Provinces
Published in Government Gazette, No. 26981, dated 19 November 2004, is the amended Third Schedule (Form of report by the independent accountant) to the rules of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces. The Third Schedule (Form of report by the independent accountant), is effective for annual periods ending on or after 1 January 2005.

Amendments to Rules of the Kwazulu-Natal Law Society
Published in Government Gazette, No. 27370, dated 18 March 2005, are the amended rules of the KwaZulu-Natal Law Society. These include rule 21, 21B, the Fifth Schedule (Report by the independent accountant), the Ninth Schedule and the Tenth Schedule. The Fifth Schedule is effective for annual periods ending on or after 1 January 2005.
