Chief Registrar's Circular 1/2006

The Chief Registrar's Circular No.1 of 2006 is about the Cross Boundary Municipalities Laws Repeal and Related Matters Act No.23 of 2005 ("the Act"). The Act will come into operation on a date to be fixed by the President by proclamation in the Gazette. However, sections 2(3), 4(d) and 5 must be regarded as having come into operation on 23 December 2005.

One of the purposes of the Act is to provide for consequential matters as a result of the re-alignment of former cross-boundary municipalities and the re-determination of the geographical areas of provinces. This CRC then deals with the impact of the provisions on Deeds Registries and registration procedures, such as the endorsement of title deeds.
