Chief Registrar's Circular 4/2008

Chief Registrar's Circular No.4 of 2008 - the purpose of the Act amongst other things is to provide for the preservation and protection of areas within South Africa that are uniquely suited for optical and radio astronomy and related matters.

Its impact on the Deeds Registries is briefly the following:
Once the Minister of Science and Technology has declared an area to be a protected area (core, part or central), or withdraws or alters such a declaration, he must notify the Registrar of Deeds. Such notification must include a description of the land involved and, if applicable, the terms and conditions must be recorded in a notarial deed and registered against the title deed of the property.
