Victoria's electronic system mentioned in States debate, might find itself being boycotted by lawyers. Unfortunately if this were to happen clients might find themselves paying more for the traditional paper-based conveyancing. Such behaviour harks back to the introduction of the Torrens system of title - lawyers boycotted what, when viewed objectively, is nothing but a make-work scheme for the legally trained and a lucrative gap in the market was filled by non-lawyer conveyancers.
