Commission retaliates

The competition commission is evaluating information it requested from the SA Property Owners' Association (Sapoa) to determine if the association contravened the Competition Act. The information was given by Sapoa to the commission in June and followed allegations made by the Institute of Estate Agents of SA (Ieasa) that Sapoa was publishing a tariff guideline on commissions to its members. Zodwa Ntuli, the compliance division manager of the competition commission, said that last week's article in Business Report about Ieasa's allegations of inconsistent treatment needed to be corrected.
