Professor Madonsela and her roughly 100 strong expedition team aim to conquer Kilimanjaro through the Thuli Madonsela Executive Climb, by reaching the summit on 9 August – the day South Africa honours its women.
It is the second of two Trek4Mandela summit groups this year, the first of which will summit on Madiba’s birthday, 18 July. Included in the group are two climbers well known to LexisNexis clients, Mari van Wyk, Executive Manager of Strategic Alliances and Partnerships and Lee-Ann King, National Deployment Manager at LexisNexis South Africa.
Both Mari and Lee-Ann share a fierce passion for promoting the rights of young women, and like Professor Madonsela are committed to social justice and advancing the rule of law. Members of the expedition will be tackling the climb of some 5895 metres with the goal of raising funds and creating awareness about the Caring4Girls menstrual hygiene programme. The programme provides monthly menstrual support and effective hygiene and health education to thousands of young South African and African women, thereby ensuring their development and growth.
