Purpose
To provide clarity regarding the procedure to be followed for the establishment of townships, the following guidelines are provided in order to create a uniform practice and to prevent unnecessary rejections. See the attached checklists (Annexure A) that set out the requirements for the different Acts, Ordinance 15/86 as well as different By-APPLICATION.
Application should be lodged in terms of Section 46 of Act 47 of 1937. Application must be made for the opening of the Township register as well as for the registration of the General Plan, Amending General Plan and Re-layout plan. - Compliance with Act 70 of 1970.

Purpose
To provide guidance on how to deal with registered deeds and documents which reflect the incorrect spelling of the name of the township in the property description thereof, or where the township name has been translated in another language other than that as on the approved General plan. - Background
