Throwing money away

Technology spending has grown to comprise 4 to 6% of the average law firm's budget. The sad story is that many law firms, despite their best plans and intentions, are throwing much of their technology money down the drain. The seven ways include:

  • Not aligning technology projects with business goals
  • Not quantifying and measuring results.
  • Failing to educate your IT staff about your legal practice and the unique issues involved.
He ends by noting that the seven ways are the tip of the iceberg and that very many other ways exist. Ultimately one must have a good hard look at what is being done wrong and redirect one's efforts to adopting a correct course of action.
