Property description of Jamestown, Stellenbosch, Western Cape and Jamestown, Aliwal North, Eastern Cape

1. Background

• The Office of the Registrar of Deeds, Cape Town has in its records a township called “Jamestown" situated in Aliwal North, Eastern Cape.
• A second township also called “Jamestown" but situated in Stellenbosch, Western Cape has been approved by the Office of the Surveyor-General Cape Town.
• The recording of two townships with the same name in the records of the Deeds Office presented practical difficulties.
• The Deeds Office Cape Town will deal with the recording of the Stellenbosch townships in its database and ancillary matters relating thereto as set out below.

2. Deeds Office Capturing

Properties situated in the township “Jamestown" in Stellenbosch, Western Cape will be recorded as follows in the electronic records of the Deeds Office Cape Town:

3. Preparation of deeds

The description of the property in deeds and documents must follow the description on the diagram or general plan as:
